Take Action

As American Jews, by urging our government to respond to extreme poverty and by increasing awareness in our communities, we complement the work of AJWS's project partners and strengthen our mission to help alleviate poverty, hunger and disease in the developing world.

No Deferral of Justice for Darfur

The prosecutor of the International Criminal Court is seeking an arrest warrant for Sudan's President Omar al-Bashir on charges of genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity. Bashir is trying to defer the court's investigation through action in the UN Security Council. In the last months of his administration, President Bush must reject any move to trade accountability for more empty promises.

Prevent the spread of HIV worldwide

Help us ensure that President-elect Obama works with Congress to renew efforts to prevent the spread of HIV around the world. On this World AIDS Day, please sign our petition urging Obama to take a stand and promote comprehensive, evidence-based HIV-prevention programs for all people.

Be a Voice for Darfur

President-elect Barack Obama's opportunity to turn his promises into action is coming soon. And our opportunity to hold him accountable has already begun.  Help us ensure that Darfur is a priority from Day One for his administration.

Stop the Flow of Arms to Sudan

As the flow of weapons into Darfur continues unabated, it is clear that the current U.N. arms embargo is not working. AJWS is calling on the U.S. to introduce a resolution into the U.N. Security Council to expand the embargo to cover all of Sudan, not just Darfur.

Help Us End the Healthcare Worker Crisis in Africa

Sub-Saharan Africa needs to at least double its current number of doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers to ensure that everyone has access to quality medical care. Ask Congress to act now!
