So what's this website all about, anyway?
Hello everyone, and welcome to my personal AJWS fundraising page! Thanks for stopping by. :-)
In case you've wandered in from the depths of the Internet and aren't exactly sure why you're here, feel free to browse the site for some useful background information about my upcoming volunteer work, as well as ways that you can help support global justice.
I have recently been awarded an American Jewish World Service World Partners Fellowship, and will be traveling to India this fall to volunteer with Navsarjan Trust, a leading NGO in the field of Dalit ("Untouchable") rights and leadership that seeks to empower communities marginalized by the Indian caste system.
My volunteer work will take place over the course of 10 months, and will be based in the rural Gujarati village of Nani Devti. There, I will work to develop basic educational and leadership skills among women of the local Dalit community. This opportunity is being organized by American Jewish World Service (AJWS), an international development organization motivated by Judaism's imperative to pursue justice. AJWS's main focuses include alleviating poverty, hunger and disease among the people of the developing world regardless of race, religion, or nationality.
How to HELP:
As part of my Fellowship, I am working to educate people about the importance of global justice work by asking my friends and family to donate to AJWS. Over the course of the next two months, I will be raising $1,800 to support AJWS and Navsarjan Trust's cause, thereby helping Dalits residing in rural India to achieve their educational and leadership potential.
The easiest, quickest way to contribute is by making an online donation by clicking the "Make a Donation" button, located on the left side of your computer screen. ALL contributions, both large and small, are greatly appreciated. If you are unable to contribute financially but would still like to help, you can do so by posting this website to your Facebook for your friends and family to see.
Thank you so much for stopping by, and joining me in supporting this important effort!
