For the last three years, I have worked at Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors. I was recently awarded the World Partners Fellowship by American Jewish World Service (AJWS), providing me with the opportunity to live and work in India for 10 months. In October, I will move to Mumbai and begin work with Dasra, an organization partnering with philanthropists and successful social entrepreneurs throughout India to scale promising development models by providing knowledge, funding and people. The work is a continuation of my work with philanthropists and grantmakers at Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, but also a departure in it’s targeted support of social entrepreneurs. I am very excited for this incredible opportunity. Not only does it allow me to contribute to a worthy organization and the causes it supports, but also to grow personally and hone my professional craft.
About AJWS and the World Partners Fellowship
AJWS is an international development organization focused on alleviating hunger, poverty and disease among people of the developing world regardless of race, religion or nationality. It approaches these issues through grants to grassroots organizations, advocacy, education and volunteer programs. The World Partners Fellowship is apart of AJWS’ volunteer program. It pairs Jewish young professionals, like myself, with different Indian non-governmental organizations (NGOs) throughout India. As a service-learning experience, the fellowship provides fellows with the opportunity to make valuable contributions to the organizations they’re paired with and, also, learn about India, global citizenship and international development issues first hand. Fellows convene periodically to share what they’ve learned, explore various approaches to development work and engage in skills-building workshops with their peers.
As part of the fellowship, I have committed to raising $1,800 to support AJWS and the programs it operates. In order to reach, and hopefully surpass, my goal, I need your help! Any amount you can contribute is greatly appreciated. All contributions are fully tax-deductible. To donate online, please click on the “Donate Now” button to the right. If you would like to make a contribution by check, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org, and I will pass on the instructions to do so. Thank you so much for your consideration.
